Our Social Work Ph.D. Students at L.S.U. receive state-of-the-art training in the skills required to provide the profession with the knowledge it will need for practice in the 21st century. Our faculty mentors are currently conducting research that addresses many of the pressing social issues of our time. Our doctoral students develop close working relationships with faculty members in our School and throughout the university system. We also provide interested students with opportunities for collaborative partnerships with governmental and non-profit agencies in the community and state.
The greater Mississippi Delta area is tremendously challenged with centuries-old social problems related to oppression and poverty. These problems have recently been compounded by the social transformations brought on by the disasters of 2005. These challenges also provide unique opportunities, however, for scholars to contribute their knowledge, skills, and expertise.
If these opportunities and challenges sound interesting to you, we would love to hear from you. Feel free to give us a call or email to ask any questions or to find out more about our program.
Sincerely,
Dr. Timothy Page, Doctoral Program Director
