TASC: Truancy Assessment and Service Center

TASC is a research-based, early identification, rapid assessment, and intensive intervention truancy reduction program tailored to at-risk children in grades K to 5. There are currently 12 operating TASC sites in 19 parishes which are monitored and evaluated by the Office of Social Service Research & Development (OSSRD). TASC works in collaboration with families, schools, social service organizations, law enforcement agencies, district attorneys, and courts to mobilize resources that address critical issues in the life of a child that contribute to truancy. Since its inception in 1999, the TASC program has served nearly 82,000 Louisiana children in over 450 public schools. On-going assessment of each TASC site is fostered by an extensive database for case management to improve long-term outcomes for Louisiana’s public school children.
